Care centered on you
Prenatal care that actually
has time for you
Standard obstetric prenatal appointments average twelve minutes. Twelve. That is barely enough time to take your blood pressure and tell you everything looks fine — let alone build the relationship, answer the questions you were afraid to ask, or address the things keeping you up at night.
Prenatal care with a licensed midwife is different. Visits are longer and more in-depth. You have time to ask questions, understand your options, and develop a genuine relationship with the provider who will be with you at your birth. You are not just another appointment on a packed schedule — you are a person whose pregnancy matters.
Care is available for healthy, low-risk pregnancies in Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Lake Elsinore, Fallbrook, and the surrounding communities of Southwest Riverside County.

Complementary Referrals
Referrals to chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, pelvic floor therapists, and other complementary providers when appropriate — an integrative approach to your pregnancy care.
Your visit schedule
A structured schedule built
for your safety
Prenatal visit frequency follows an evidence-based schedule designed to ensure both you and your baby are consistently monitored throughout your pregnancy — with visits becoming more frequent as your due date approaches.
Each visit is longer and more in-depth than standard obstetric care — allowing time for physical assessment, lab review, education, birth planning, and meaningful conversation. You leave every appointment informed and confident, not with a stack of unanswered questions.
Care begins with an initial consultation and intake, ideally between 8 and 12 weeks — though we welcome families who are further along and looking to transition to midwifery care.

Safety is assessed throughout your pregnancy
— not just at birth
If circumstances change and hospital care becomes the safest option at any point in your pregnancy, you will be supported through that transition with clear communication, coordination, and continuity of care. Transfer is not a failure — it is part of responsible midwifery practice.

Prenatal care questions
When should I start prenatal care?
Ideally between 8 and 12 weeks, though we welcome families at any point in pregnancy. If you are further along and considering a transition to midwifery care, reach out — we are happy to discuss what that looks like for your specific situation.
How long are prenatal visits?
Significantly longer than a standard OB appointment. Initial consultations typically run 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up visits generally run 45 to 60 minutes — enough time for thorough assessment, education, and all your questions. No looking at the clock, no feeling rushed out the door.
What does the initial visit include?
The initial consultation is a comprehensive intake — your complete health history, current pregnancy review, a discussion of your goals and birth preferences, lab and ultrasound coordination, and time to get to know each other. This is also the visit where we confirm you are a good candidate for home birth care. The initial visit is $250.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — we accept Medi-Cal direct for prenatal care. Beginning July 2026, we will also be accepting IEHP and Community Health Group. Follow-up prenatal visits are $200 per visit cash pay. See our pricing and insurance page for complete details.
Can I get prenatal care here even if I am not sure about home birth yet?
Yes. Many families begin prenatal care while they are still exploring their options. There is no pressure and no expectation. The initial consultation is designed to help you gather information and make the decision that is right for you — whether that is home birth, birth center, or hospital.
