The fourth trimester
Care that continues
after your baby arrives
The postpartum period — often called the fourth trimester — is a time of healing, adjustment, and transformation for both you and your baby. Many of the most significant complications and challenges of the entire pregnancy journey actually occur in the first six weeks after birth. This is not the time to be left on your own.
With in-home midwifery postpartum care, you receive personalized support for both you and your baby without the stress of loading a newborn into a car and driving to an appointment during your most physically vulnerable weeks. Your midwife comes to you — in your home, at your pace, with the same warmth and expertise you experienced throughout your pregnancy.
My role is to ensure you are not navigating this time alone — and that both you and your baby are monitored, supported, and cared for through the full postpartum transition.
"The weeks after birth deserve just as much care and expertise as pregnancy itself. You are not left on your own."

Visit schedule
Your postpartum
visit timeline
24–72 Hours After Birth
First Postpartum Visit
The first visit happens in the critical early hours — assessing your physical recovery, newborn vital signs and weight, feeding establishment, and answering the flood of questions that come in the first days of parenthood.
1 Week Postpartum
One-Week Follow-Up
Continued monitoring of your healing, newborn weight gain, feeding adequacy, and early assessment for any postpartum mood concerns. This visit often brings the most questions — we have time for all of them.
2 Weeks Postpartum
Two-Week Check
Your baby should be back at birth weight by now — we confirm this and assess the trajectory of their growth. We continue to monitor your physical recovery and emotional adjustment to new parenthood.
4 Weeks Postpartum
Four-Week Visit
A midpoint check at one month — you and your baby are finding your rhythm. We assess pelvic floor recovery, continued healing, feeding, and prepare you for the transition to your 6-week visit and beyond.
6 Weeks Postpartum
Six-Week Completion Visit
The traditional postpartum check-up — a comprehensive assessment of your full recovery including a gentle PAP exam if needed, pelvic floor assessment, labs if indicated, and planning for your transition to well woman care and contraception if appropriate. Your baby receives a final newborn assessment before transitioning to their pediatrician's care.
